Area-based lockdown in Narayanganj from Sunday: DC

The areas which have higher Covid-19 infection cases will be locked down and daily necessities including food items will be delivered door to door to prevent people from going out, said Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Md Jashim Uddin.
The Health Ministry is already working on marking-out the most infection prone areas in the coronavirus hotspot Narayanganj.
In line with the decision, Jamtola, Amlapara and Bhuighar Rupayan Town in Fatullah will be put under lockdown from Sunday 3pm, said the deputy commissioner.
The health ministry has found that these areas have a higher number of infection cases, he added.
The mosques in these areas are not allowed to have more than six people for jamaat prayer.
At the same time, daily necessities will be provided on vans or one or two shops will be kept open in an area.
District Civil Surgeon Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmed said the area-based lockdown will be strictly implemented this time so that no one can come out of the lockdown area under any circumstances.
The district administration, police and the civil surgeon's office will jointly ensure the implementation, said the civil surgeon.
Imtiaz said Sonargaon and Roopganj upazilas are the most infection prone areas followed by the Narayanganj city corporation area.
Roopganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Momtaz Begum said the upazila is witnessing a growing number of infections every day.
He said Pirabo, Maikuli, Borabo, Noapara under the Tarabo municipality, Murparra village, Rishipara, Sorkarpara under Murpara union and Dakterpara under Kayetpara union have higher infection rates.
The UNO further said a meeting of the upazila coronavirus prevention committee will be held on Sunday. The meeting will be attended by the upazila chairman, police personnel and health division officials. Most infection prone areas will be marked as Red, Yellow and Green in the meeting. Red zone areas will be put under lockdown in cooperation with the upazila administration, health division and police, said UNO Momtaz.
Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saidul Islam said Kachpur union and Mograpara union and some villages under Sonargaon municipality have been identified as high infection prone areas in cooperation with the health division.
Sonargaon Upazila Health Officer Dr Polash Kumar Saha said the areas will be discussed in tomorrow's coronavirus prevention committee meeting and effective measures will be taken thereafter.
Health Division's Assistant Director Ayesha Akter said work on the zone division is underway in the Covid-19 hotspot Narayanganj.
The areas with the most infection cases will be identified within the next two days.
