BAF aircraft takes off from China with 6 lakh doses of Covid vaccine
Bangladesh is receiving the vaccine shots as a gift from China
Two aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) which left Dhaka yesterday to bring six lakh doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine took off with the consignment from China at 10 am.
The two C-139J transport aircraft will reach Dhaka around 5:30 pm today, read an Inter Services Public Relations Directorate press release.
Earlier today Hualong Yan, the minister counselor and deputy chief of mission at the Chinese embassy in Dhaka, posted two photos on his Facebook page after the BAF aircraft arrived in China early Sunday morning.
He later posted more photos which showed that the vaccines were loaded on the cargo of the aircraft ready to depart.

Yesterday, Bangladesh also signed a deal to procure the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine from China according to Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
He, however, did not disclose anything more on the issue – such as the date of the deal and the price of the doses.
Earlier in May, China gifted five lakh doses of its Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine to Bangladesh.
