Bangladesh conducts highest ever single-day Covid tests
Bangladesh on 8 March launched its first Covid test with only nine samples after detecting three active cases in the country
Bangladesh today conducted the highest ever single-day Covid-19 tests in the last 24 hours amid the rise of virus infections and deaths across the country.
A total of 25,954 Covid samples were tested in 219 labs across the country, taking the total number of tests conducted till date to 4,460,184.
Earlier on 22 March, the highest 25,111 samples were tested in a single day.
The country today saw an alarming growth in the number of Covid-19 cases as 3,554 people were diagnosed with the disease in 24 hours which is the highest in a single day since 2 July 2020, almost 8 months ago when the country saw 4,019 cases.
The daily infection rate saw a significant rise too as 13.69% of the tested population came out positive. Bangladesh had seen an infection rate of 11.19% on Monday.

So far, 577,241 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh. The death toll from the dreaded virus now stands at 8,738 in the country.
