Chittagong bourse supports 4,000 shutdown-hit families
The CSE has already disbursed aid packets containing 10kg rice and some other essentials such as lentils, edible oil and soap to 2,000 families
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, is supporting 4,000 shutdown-hit families in the port city.
The stock exchange has already disbursed aid packets containing 10kg rice and some other essentials such as lentils, edible oil and soap to 2,000 families.
Another 2,000 families, who have been identified as being stuck at home with no money to buy food, will soon receive similar aid packets.

CSE officials told The Business Standard that they are trying to make the support effective enough to encourage people to stay home.
They also made the packets bigger than usual. Otherwise, the same families would be on the streets again within a week for food.
"If needed in the future, the CSE will stand firmly beside the nation," Asif Ibrahim, the chairman of the exchange said in a recent statement.
The programme began on April 12 with social distancing measures in place. Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhuryinaugurated the event for his hometown residents.
CSE Director Maj(retd) Emdadul Islam and other officials were present at the event.
