Dedicated DNCC Covid-19 Hospital launching on Sunday
Patients will be admitted after Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurates the hospital at 11:30am on Sunday
DNCC (Dhaka North City Corporation) Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital, the largest hospital in the country, is being launched in the capital's Mohakhali on Sunday for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Admission of patients will start after Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurates the hospital at 11:30am on Sunday.
"We can accommodate more than 1,200 beds in this hospital. However, 250 beds – 50 ICUs, 50 beds for emergency patients and 150 general beds – will start off from Sunday," said Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, director of the hospital.

The common bed is the Covid-19 Isolation Room and there are plans to keep one patient in each room for the time being.
Nasir Uddin hoped that 500 beds would be set up in the next seven days and the rest of the beds within this month.
In the meantime, 150 doctors, 200 nurses, and 300 health workers have joined the hospital. Also, about 150 doctors from the Army, Air Force and Navy, and skilled personnel from various fields are supporting the hospital.
The hospital will be run by the Armed Forces Division and overall support will be provided by the Ministry of Health.
The hospital has been set up in a vacant 1,80,560 sq ft six story building of Mohakhali Raw Market in Dhaka North, which has so far been used as a Covid-19 isolation centre and a Covid-19 testing lab for outbound passengers.
After it launches as a Covid-19 hospital, those service activities will continue separately.
