Energy sector sees first Covid-19 case at Padma oil
Alam’s family has been home quarantined
An employee of Padma Oil Company Ltd has been diagnosed with the deadly Covid-19, making it the first case from the energy sector of the country.
Moshiul Alam, an Assistant General Manager of Padma oil company Ltd, was recently tested coronavirus positive. On Friday, he suffered from severe breathing problems and was taken to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital.
He has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Alam's family has been home quarantined, said his colleague at Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
This is the first case in the energy sector among six gas distribution companies of Petrobangla and three oil supplying companies of BPC.
Earlier, some 27 employees in the power sector were identified to be Covid-19.
