Equal healthcare must be maintained at all levels despite Covid-19 outbreak: Health Minister
The government observed World Population Day virtually this year due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said that people's illness with other diseases will not stop amid the global coronavirus infection. So there should not be any lack in providing healthcare services because of the epidemic.
"People's healthcare must continue equally, from the outskirts of the country to the cities, villages and all levels of the health sector, said the minister.
Zahid Malek made the comments at a discussion meeting organised by the Department of Family Planning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the occasion of 31st World Population Day through an online Zoom meeting on Saturday.
In his speech, the Health Minister thanked the 52,000 staff of the Department of Family Planning for their tireless work in field levels in 18,000 community clinics and hospitals across the country, and called upon them to be more dedicated in serving the people.
Zahid Maleque also said that despite our many wishes, we are unable to properly celebrate the Mujib Year because of coronavirus.
"So I am dedicating all the activities of today's Population Day in the name of the year of Mujib," he added.
The government observed World Population Day virtually this year due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
This time, the theme of the day is "Putting the brakes on Covid-19: How to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now."
