I am not coronavirus positive: Health minister
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik has claimed of not being positive with the novel coronavirus.
"I am not infected with coronavirus. My blood sample was tested. As I am not coronavirus positive, so I do not need to stay in quarantine," the minister said in a virtual briefing today.
"I am working regularly. I am staying at home like others," he added.
Earlier on March 26, Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said an official of Health Ministry has been infected with coronavirus.
Some of the high officials of the ministry have been asked to go into home quarantine as they came into contact with the infected official.
IEDCR said they are trying to identify the people who came into contact with the official.
In the same briefing today, IEDCR director Professor Meerjady Sabrina Flora said no new patient was detected positive with the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh in last 24 hours.
No new coronavirus patient was found on Saturday too. So the current number of confirmed cases remains at 48.
IEDCR confirmed the first death from coronavirus infection on March 18, second on March 21, third on March 23, fourth on March 24 and fifth death on March 25 in the country.
Globally, 664,924 people have so far got infected with the highly contagious coronavirus and 30,848 have died from it.
