Merchant bankers lend a hand to the poor
The association said in a statement this community support will continue until April 15
Merchant bankers have come forward to help the poor living in Motijheel, the financial hub of Dhaka, amid the countrywide shutdown.
These people who live from hand to mouth are unable to work because of the shutdown.
Most of them are waiting for relief from the government or the community.
"We, under the banner of our association, have built a small fund to buy food for the poor families who are appearing on the empty streets," said Sayadur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association.
Police on Sunday helped the volunteers distribute the packets containing essential groceries.
The association said in a statement this community support will continue until April 15.
