Navana group to give 2-storey building in Chattogram for corona hospital
60 beds will be set there according to the World Health Organisation’s rules
Navana Group is giving a two-storey building, built on approximately 6,000 square feet of land in Chattogram's Faujdarhat area to be turned into a hospital to treat patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
The first floor will initially be used to treat patients. 60 beds will be set there according to the World Health Organisation's rules.
Earlier, Dr Bidyut Barua, brother of the Prime Minister's special assistant Barrister Biplob Barua wanted to build a hospital in Chattogram with some other doctors. Navana Group contacted them after hearing about their initiative.

"Navana Group proposed giving the building there for use as a hospital to treat coronavirus patients. We visited the site on Tuesday," Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, director (health) of Chattogram division told The Business Standard.
"There's a two-storey building there. We can use both the floors. The first floor has some rooms that can be used as stations for health officials and doctors. That's why we decided to use that floor," he added.
Dr Biddut Barua said, "The initial procedures are completed. We will talk to the Directorate General of Health about the equipment that we will need on Wednesday. If everything goes well then the hospital will be made within the next two weeks."
In Chattogram, the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) is conducting coronavirus tests. Navana Group's land is just beside the institute. Dr Shahriar believes that it will work as an advantage if a hospital is built there.
