No change in Khaleda’s health condition, says doctor
A special medical team, formed for Khaleda's treatment, is expected to provide an updated report soon
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has been undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital since last Monday, reportedly made no progress in terms of health condition.
"It can't be stated that her breathing problems have improved even after shifting to the hospital's CCU unit," her personal physician told Prothom Alo adding that her oxygen saturation (the level of dissolved oxygen in the body) sometimes drops to 90 or below, while with oxygen supply the level remains up to 99.
"Her diabetes is also not under control."
The doctor further said that Khaleda Zia may have to stay in the hospital for several more days.
A special medical team, formed for Khaleda's treatment, is expected to provide an updated report soon.
Khaleda Zia tested positive for Covid-19 test on 10 April as eight people at her residence were infected with the virus. She underwent the second Covid-19 test on April 14 and the report was positive.
She was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on 28 April for a brief period for her thorough health checkup, but continued to remain there as per the doctors' recommendation.
Later, she was shifted from the hospital cabin to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in the afternoon due to shortness of breath since Monday morning.
