Over three crore people across the country have received relief as the government continues its efforts to mitigate their sufferings in the wake of the coronavirus(COVID-19) pandemic.

Besides, the government handed over cash to 1,81,58,268 people of 40,70,114 families, the handout added.
According to the information received from the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, the government allocated one lakh 4 thousand 434 metric tonnes of rice till April 26 while 80,780 metric tonens of it were distributed.
So far, a total of Taka 43,08,89,164crore as cash was allocated in 64 districts across the country and Tk 36,11,61,745 was distributed.
The total allocation for baby food aid is 10 crore 65 lakh five thousand taka and so far 6 crore 59 lakh 31 thousand 444 taka has been distributed.
As a result, the number of beneficiary families stands at one lakh 98 thousand 227 while the number of people is four lakh one thousand 551 people.
Meanwhile, the state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) sold 1,600.54 metric tonnes of essential commodities at subsidised rates across the country through 498 trucks yesterday.
