RU emeritus professor dies with coronavirus symptoms
An emeritus professor of the department of applied chemistry in Rajshahi University died on Thursday.
The professor, Dr Fakhrul Islam, 86, breathed his last this afternoon half an hour after he was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) with coronavirus symptoms, the hospital's Deputy Director Dr Saiful Ferdous told The Business Standard.
His sample has been collected for a Covid-19 test, Dr Saiful added.
Fakhrul Islam hailed from Kazihata area of Rajshahi. He was born in 1938 in Kolkata. His father Mir Ahmad Hossain was the Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi College. After finishing his studies, Fakhrul Islam also started teaching. This scientist has a special contribution to the research on arsenic.
