Serum CEO’s remark on vaccine export ban is personal, Momen says quoting Delhi
Indian Foreign Ministry also assured that Bangladesh must not be concerned over the matter
Indian Ministry of External Affairs has informed Bangladesh that Serum Institute's CEO Adar Poonawalla comment regarding the ban on exporting vaccine was his personal opinion.
Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told reporters quoting the Indian foreign ministry during a briefing on Monday.
"The bilateral agreement of vaccine export will be implemented on time as it was done following high-level discussion between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Norendra Modi," the foreign minister added.
Indian Foreign Ministry also assured that Bangladesh must not be concerned over the matter.
"Vaccines will arrive in the country in accordance with the date announced by the Health Minister Zahid Maleque," the minister reiterated.
However, in another press briefing, minister Zahid Maleque said no date can be said now when the vaccine will reach the country.
The developments came after India's vaccine producer Serum Institute CEO said Indian government has imposed 2-month ban on exporting vaccine.
