Momen directs Bangladeshi ambassadors in Middle East to ensure expats’ welfare
The minister also directed the diplomats to ensure that workers who intend to return to Bangladesh can get their salaries and allowance
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Monday directed ambassadors working in the Middle Eastern nations to provide stranded Bangladeshi expatriates with food amid the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He also directed the envoys to accelerate all kinds of diplomatic steps so that Bangladeshi expatriates who lost their jobs due to the pandemic could get back to work once the situation returns to normal.
The minister gave the directives during a videoconference held over the Covid-19 crisis with 11 Bangladeshi ambassadors and mission chiefs in the Middle East.

Envoys from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman took part in the videoconference.
The minister also directed the diplomats to ensure that workers who intend to return to Bangladesh can get their salaries and allowance.
Among others, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen were also present during the conference.
Shahriar Alam asked all officials and staff of all foreign missions to comply with health policies and to remain cautious while performing their duties.
