Serum can supply 6 lakh Covishield to Sri Lanka if purchased for $15 per dose
The Oxford-authorised Indian vaccine manufacturer had previously supplied the Covishield vaccine to Sri Lanka for only US$05 per dose
Sri Lanka can get supply of Oxford AstraZeneca from the Indian vaccine manufacturer Serum if a dose is purchased for US$15.
Under this condition the company will be able to deliver six lakh doses of the vaccine within two weeks, reports Lanka News.
The Oxford-authorised Indian vaccine manufacturer had previously supplied the Covishield vaccine to Sri Lanka for only US$05 per dose. However, the neighbour country was unable to continue the supply in the recent event that the pandemic had struck hard on the land.
In the event that about six hundred thousand people in Sri Lanka administered with the first dose of the India-made Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine are in need of the second dose, the government of Sri Lanka had requested Serum to supply them more doses for US$10 per dose. In response, the company had informed the Sri Lankan authorities that it can continue the supply for US$15 per dose.
The second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine should be administered within sixteen weeks since the first dose. Failure, the immunity required to battle the virus may not be developed within the body, experts point out.
