Biman's Chattogram-Kolkata chartered flight suspended
The flight was supposed to take 25 Indian nationals back to their country
A chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines set to travel from Chattogram to Kolkata has been cancelled, with no confirmation yet as to when it will be allowed to leave.
The 74-seater Dash-8 airplane was scheduled to leave for Kolkata from the Shah Amanat International Airport on Wednesday morning with 25 Indian passengers on board.
Biman's manager at the airport confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Tuesday evening.
"A chartered flight was scheduled to depart for Kolkata on Wednesday, but the flight was postponed in the evening. It will be announced later when the flight will resume," said Imrul Hasan Ansari, manager for the national carrier at the Chattogram airport.
The Indian nationals had been stranded in Bangladesh due to the suspension of international flights following the global Covid-19 outbreak.
Since then, Biman has arranged chartered flights on several routes to repatriate foreign nationals.
