Ctg airport to stay open 24 hours, four days a week for flights diverted from Dhaka due to fog
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan gave the instruction to the authorities during his visit to the airport today
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has ordered Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram to stay open 24 hours a day for four days a week for landing of flights diverted from Dhaka due to dense fog in winter.
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan gave the instruction to the authorities during his visit to the airport today (17 November).
He also said Shah Amanat International Airport in Sylhet will remain open 24 hours for the other three days of the week as another alternative landing destination for flights.
"In the past, if a plane could not land in Dhaka due to winter fog, it had to be taken to another country's airport. Now flights can be landed at these two airports as an alternative," said the CAAB chairman.
