Cenbank eases foreign travel restrictions for bankers
The Bangladesh Bank has relaxed restrictions on foreign travel for bank officials.
The central bank issued a circular today (19 January), relaxing the policy for bank officials travelling abroad for official purposes.
However, officials must obtain permission from authorities concerned at their banks for such travel.
The circular stated that bank officials and employees can now travel abroad for training, seminars, workshops, or study tours funded by banks.
This will come into effect immediately.
The directive is issued under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, it added.
In 2022, the Bangladesh Bank restricted bank officials from going abroad to reduce dollar spending.
