Community Bank not only for police but for people too: IGP
Community Bank’s new branches were inaugurated in Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Chawkbazar and Uttara on Tuesday
Dr Benazir Ahmed, inspector general of police (IGP) and also chairman of Community Bank Limited, said Community Bank is not for police only, but it is also a bank for the country people.
The IGP made the statement at the inauguration ceremony of new bank branches in Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Chawkbazar and Uttara through videoconferencing from his office at the police headquarters in Dhaka, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Police on Tuesday.
Dr Benazir said, "Community Bank has been established not only to increase the number of branches, but it also has a specific purpose with a specific goal. This bank will be different from others with distinctive features."
"This bank has been established to provide people with financial security through innovative banking and to make a significant contribution to the economy."
"Community Bank will work not only for policemen e but for the people of this county and their welfare so that the people of the country consider it as their own bank," added the IGP.
Addressing bankers, Dr Benazir said they have to go beyond the conventional banking system and bring changes and innovation in the system.
He urged them to provide new products to subscribers and use cutting-edge technologies to deliver those services.
The IGP said, "You people [bankers] will lead the banking sector while others will follow in your footsteps."
Additional Inspector General Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Community Bank Ltd Masihul Huq Chowdhury, Additional Inspector General of railway range Md Mohsin Hossain, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and other high officials from Bangladesh police and Community Bank were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
