Banks, share market to remain closed on 20 October
All financial institutions will be closed on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi
All banks, financial institutions, and the share market of the country will be closed on the occasion of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi on next Wednesday, 20 October.
The Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
The circular said the holiday was declared on Tuesday (19 October) on the occasion of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi; but according to the decision of the National Moon Sighting Committee, the date has been changed to Wednesday (20 October).
Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), gets commemorated in Rabi' al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
12 Rabi' al-awwal is the accepted date among most of the Sunni scholars, while most Shia scholars regard 17 Rabi' al-awwal as the accepted date.
