Husne Ara Shikha promoted to executive director of Bangladesh Bank
Director of Huaman Resources Department-1 of the Bangladesh Bank head office, Husne Ara Shikha, has been promoted as the bank's executive director, says a press release.
Husne Ara joined Bangladesh Bank as an assistant director in 1996. She started her career at the Banking Regulation and Policy Department of the bank.
Alongside discharging her duties in the Human Resources Department, she held various positions in 3 World Bank funded projects – Bangladesh Central Bank Strengthening Project, Financial Institution Development Project and Investment Promotion Financial Facility Project.
She played an important role in the formulation and implementation of the Internal Credit Risk Rating System (ICRRS) in banking, which is widely used to regulate credit quality in the banking sector.
Born in Bhaluka of Mymensingh, Husne Ara completed her honours from the Department of Pharmacy of Dhaka University. Later, she obtained an MBA degree in Finance from IBA under the same university.
She also earned a master's degree in Economics from the International University of Japan.
She received the Rupali Bank Award for her achievement in the Banking Diploma Examination, and the Bangladesh Bank Employees Recognition Award (gold medal) in 2010 in recognition of her professional excellence.
As an executive director of the central bank, she holds the responsibility of SME, the Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Ltd, Foreign Exchange Investment Department and Human Resources Department.
She led the development of 100% incentive loan disbursement to the SME sector in the post-Covid period, creation of a specialised FEID portal for foreign investors on Bangladesh Bank's website and establishment of the bank's OSS portal with the Bangladesh Investment and Development Authority.
