Recruitment at Palli Sanchay Bank: Deprived 129 demand immediate appointment
They came with the demand at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital, fearing that they might be deprived from getting appointed, altogether
Some 129 candidates, recommended for recruitment as senior officers at the final stage of the Palli Sanchay Bank’s recruitment process, urged (on Tuesday) that the bank authority appoints them immediately.
They came with the demand at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital, fearing that they might be deprived from getting appointed, altogether.
“A section of greedy officers at the bank is trying to impede our appointment from the very beginning to hide their corruptions and misdeeds,” said Moushumi Haque Sumi, one of the recommended candidates for the position.
“Different propagandas are being circulated against us,” said another recommended jobseeker Emdad Saif, adding that despite clear explanation provided by the bank authorities in different times regarding their recruitment, a vested quarter filed a writ against it by providing false and incomplete information.
They were selected by the Bankers’ Selection Committee of Bangladesh Bank through a transparent process and on the basis of merit, said Shamim Reza, another jobseeker.
On January 28, a total of 278 jobseekers were recommended for appointment, and their joining date was June 19.
However, on June 18 the High Court issued a stay order on the recruitment of 129 candidates for an indefinite period, just a day before their joining.
The High Court order came after some bank officials had filed a writ, bringing allegation of irregularities in the recruitment process.
Nevertheless, 149 of the recommended candidates have got appointment for the position on June 27 as per the existing rules.
