Budget doesn’t reflect govt’s election manifesto: CPD
The government did not give any effort to bring rich people’s assets under the tax net in the budget
The proposed national budget did not reflect the government’s election manifesto of removing inequality through inclusive development, noted economist Prof Rehman Sobhan said on Sunday.
The government did not give any effort to bring rich people’s assets under the tax net in the budget proposed for the 2019-20 fiscal year, said Prof Sobhan, chairman of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
Addressing a discussion titled “CPD Budget Dialogue 2019” at the city’s Lakeshore Hotel, the independent think-tank chief said the government should increase budgetary allocations for education, health and social safety schemes.
