AIUB delegates participate in third transnational project meeting
The third Transnational Project Meeting of the Erasmus SOHO project took place in Penang, Malaysia, on December 5-6, 2024.
This project, titled "Smart, Optimized, High-quality, and On-demand (SOHO) Tourism Innovative Education for Sustainable and Green Development 2023-2026," aims to establish and enhance Knowledge and Competence Centres (KCCs) in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
These centres are pivotal in fostering regional development, driving innovation, and strengthening international collaboration. The SOHO project also focuses on developing courses in emerging areas such as Smart Transportation, Sustainable Accommodation, and Renewable Energy Integration.
These courses are designed to create new career opportunities for students and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, promoting sustainable growth and innovation. The AIUB delegation comprised Prof. Dr Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Associate Professor Dr Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Head of Computer Engineering; and Senior Assistant Professor Dr Md. Rifat Hazari, Special Assistant for EEE. The first day's sessions were held at the grand ballroom of the Gurney Bay Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. In contrast, the second day's activities occurred at the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CEMACS), University of Sains Malaysia.
The event concluded with a tour of the CEMACS facilities and further discussions. The meeting saw the participation of over 35 representatives from partner institutions, both in person and online. These institutions included the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (Romania), Universite Lyon Lumiere 2 (France), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), AIUB and Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh),
The University of Danang and the University of Technology and Education – University of Da Nang (Vietnam), Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia). The Malaysian universities organised this edition of the meeting. This gathering underscored the shared commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative education. It marked a significant milestone in achieving the project's objectives, furthering regional and international collaboration, and paving the way for sustainable development in the tourism sector.
