Border Guard Bangladesh celebrates Victory Day
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) observed the Great Victory Day-2024 with due solemnity.
To commemorate this significant day, elaborate programmes were organised at the BGB Headquarters, all regions, institutions, sectors, and units of the force.
As per the programme, the national flag was hoisted at the BGB Headquarters and all other units at sunrise. The Director General of BGB, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, was present at the wreath-laying ceremony at the National Memorial in Savar, where the Honourable President and the Chief Advisor paid their respects. At 8:15 AM, the Director General placed a wreath at "Simanta Gaurav" in Pilkhana to pay tribute to the valiant martyrs of the Liberation War. A smartly turned out BGB contingent presented a Guard of Honor as a mark of respect to the martyrs.
In celebration of Victory Day, a reception was organised at Pilkhana and all other BGB units across the country. The Director General of BGB was the chief guest at the reception held at Pilkhana.
Special prayers were offered at all mosques within the BGB for the salvation of the departed souls of the martyred freedom fighters, the good health of the valiant freedom fighters and war-wounded freedom fighters, peace and prosperity of the nation, and the continued progress and unity of the force.
Among other programmes, the BGB Headquarters and various other installations across the country were illuminated with colourful lights. All unit gates, surrounding areas, and installations were decorated with national flags, banners, and festoons.
To mark Victory Day, free screenings of Liberation War-based films were arranged at the BGB cinema hall for BGB members, their families, and students of BGB schools and colleges. The museum and zoo at the BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana were kept open to the public free of cost from morning till evening. In the afternoon, the BGB band performed at the Soarwardi Udyan area (opposite the Atomic Energy Commission).
