Commercial Bank of Ceylon partners with TMSS for tree plantation initiative
Commercial Bank of Ceylon has launched a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, planting a total of 7,974 fruit and wood-bearing trees in Bogra District. The renowned NGO, TMSS, will oversee the planting and care of the saplings for the next three years until they reach full maturity.
This project is expected to have a profound environmental impact, contributing to ecological balance, climate regulation, and overall environmental health. It will also play a crucial role in improving air quality, conserving soil, controlling erosion, regulating the water cycle, conserving biodiversity, and sequestering carbon, helping to mitigate climate change. In addition, local communities will benefit from the fruits, herbal remedies, and wood supply provided by the trees.
At a ceremony held at the Commercial Bank of Ceylon's Head Office in Hadi Tower, Gulshan 2, the CSR contribution was officially handed over by the bank's CEO, Mr. Najith Meewanage, to the Founder Executive Director of TMSS, Prof. Dr. Hosne Ara Begum. Also present at the event were Mr. Kasun Herath, Deputy CEO & Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Bank, Mr. Mahmud Hossain, Deputy CEO & Head of Corporate Banking, along with senior officials from both organisations.
This partnership underscores Commercial Bank of Ceylon's commitment to sustainability and supporting local communities through environmentally conscious initiatives.
