Customer Awareness Week 2024 of Bangladesh Bank Begins in Cox's Bazar in Association with Mercantile Bank
The Customer Awareness Week 2024 of Bangladesh Bank has commenced in the Chattogram Division, aiming to enhance customer awareness about banking services. The opening ceremony, held at Sayeman Beach Resort, Cox's Bazar, on 21 September 2024, featured Md. Nurul Amin, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, as the Chief Guest. The event is organised by the Financial Integrity and Customer Services Department (FICSD) of Bangladesh Bank, in collaboration with Mercantile Bank PLC. The five-day programme is set to run from 22 to 26 September 2024.
Special guests included Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Managing Director of Mercantile Bank PLC; Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman, Director of Bangladesh Bank (Chattogram Office); Mohammad Mohsin Hosaini, Director (FICSD) of Bangladesh Bank (Head Office); and Mati Ul Hasan, Additional Managing Director of Mercantile Bank PLC. The event was presided over by Abu Hena Humayun Kabir, Director of FICSD.
Mohammad Mahenur Alam, Additional Director and head of the Strategic Communication Team of FICSD, delivered the welcome speech. The daylong programme featured discussions, audiovisual presentations, and displays aimed at educating customers about various banking services. More than 170 officials and customers from branches of different banks and financial institutions in the Chattogram region attended the event.
In his address, the Chief Guest referred to customers as the "lifeblood of banking services," emphasising the importance of customer awareness in the banking sector. He also stressed the dual responsibility of bankers to raise both customer awareness and their own awareness of everyday banking duties.
