East West University donates over 33 Lacs taka to the chief adviser's relief fund for flood victims
East West University (EWU) has again demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian efforts.
In response to the devastating floods that recently affected the Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali districts, EWU has contributed over 33 lacs 71 thousand taka to the chief adviser's Relief Fund. The fund was transferred to the Chief Adviser's Relief Funds account in Sonali Bank on 11 September 2024. This significant donation aims to provide immediate relief and support to the thousands of people impacted by the flooding.
The Board of Trustees, Faculty Members, university Officials, and East-West University students have contributed significantly. This unity of effort from all corners of our university community is a testament to our shared responsibility towards those in need. In addition to this financial contribution, students of East West University have been actively involved in rescue, food and drinking water supply, and clothing distribution activities since the beginning of the flood.
Professor Dr Shams Rahman, the vice-chancellor of East West University, commented on the initiative: "At East West University, we value the welfare for the greater good. The recent floods have displaced thousands of families in the Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali regions, and we are responsible for standing by them during this critical time. Our donation to the chief adviser's Relief Fund is a small step in helping rebuild the lives of those affected by this disaster".
East West University plans to support further flood victims' rehabilitation efforts through collaborative projects, research, and partnerships for long-term recovery. This long-term commitment is a testament to our hope and reassurance that we will stand by the affected communities until they fully recover.
