European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Bangladesh recently hosted a meeting with the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ms Nicola Beer, and her team on 8 January 2025 at Bistro-E at the Bay's Edgewater.
The meeting was attended by Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud, the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Mr. Michael Miller, the EU ambassador to Bangladesh.
EuroCham Chairperson Ms. Nuria Lopez expressed gratitude to the EIB for expanding financing in Bangladesh, emphasising the need for green energy and infrastructure development.
Discussions focused on improving the business environment, including strategies for branding the country to attract European FDI, reducing bureaucratic red tape, and expanding the tax net through collaboration between the EU private sector and the Bangladeshi government.
Ms Nicola Beer underscored EuroCham's critical role as a bridge between European and Bangladeshi authorities, shaping policies to strengthen trade and investment ties.
