ISD celebrates fifty-fourth Victory Day of Bangladesh

International School Dhaka (ISD) recently observed the 54th Victory Day of Bangladesh with a heartfelt assembly.

The assembly brought together the whole school community to honour the country's rich history and martyrs' sacrifices. The assembly was held at ISD's gymnasium, and a tapestry of performances monumentalised the spirit of patriotism and unity. 

The assembly began with a warm welcome from Mr. Steve Calland-Scoble, the Director of International School Dhaka. He expressed, "We believe in nurturing a deep understanding of our cultural roots and history. Victory Day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on our collective pasts and empower our students to build a brighter future for the country. Today's performances embody our students and nation's creativity, resilience, and pride."

Following the welcome speech, students from Grades 3, 4, and 5 performed the National Anthem, setting a respectful and uplifting tone for the event. A series of captivating performances followed this, each showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of our students across various grades. Two Grade 12 students narrated the history of Bangladesh, providing a thoughtful context for the occasion. Kindergarten students delivered a delightful musical performance, while Grade 7 students performed the patriotic song "Ami Banglay Gaan Gai." A collaborative poetry and drama presentation on "Ekattor Chithi" by Grades 6 and 12 students added depth and emotion to the program.

Dance performances on "Tak Dhum Tak Dhum Bajai" and "Ami Bonoful Go" by students from Grades 3, 7, and 10 brought a vibrant energy to the stage. Students from Grades 4 and 5 presented heartfelt songs and poetry, including "Bijoy Ullash" and "Chol Chol Chol." Senior students added to the occasion with their rendition of "Amar Poth Chola," while a Grade 12 student and her father performed the stirring poem "Tomake Obhibadon Bangladesh". The event concluded with a musical drama on "Cholo Bangladesh," performed by students from Grades 8 and 11, leaving the audience inspired and united in the spirit of Victory Day.

All these performances enlightened the audience about the immense sacrifices made during the Liberation War. They connected the younger generation with their heritage and instilled a sense of gratitude towards the country's martyrs and heroes. The event reaffirmed ISD's commitment to fostering community and cultural appreciation among the learners and staff members.
