Islami Bank inaugurates 400th branch in Ghatail, Tangail
Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC) has inaugurated its 400th branch in Ghatail, Tangail, on Saturday, 28 December 2024. The branch was inaugurated by Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, who attended the event as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Chairman of Islami Bank, with Md. Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Professor Dr. M. Masud Rahman, Chairman of the Risk Management Committee, Md. Abdus Salam, FCA, FCS, Chairman of the Audit Committee, and Mohammad Khurshid Wahab, Independent Director, attending as special guests. Mohammed Monirul Moula, Managing Director of the bank, delivered the welcome speech, while Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad, Member Secretary of the Shari'ah Supervisory Committee, presented a keynote on welfare-oriented banking. Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Additional Managing Director, delivered a vote of thanks.
In his address, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur commended Islami Bank as the country's leading bank, emphasizing its pivotal role in Bangladesh's economic development. "The bank has regained its momentum within a short period, earning the trust of the people. It now holds Tk7,000 crore in fresh deposits and leads in foreign remittance collection," he stated. He also highlighted the significant role Islami Bank plays, with one-fourth of the country's population closely connected to it.
Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Chairman of Islami Bank, noted the bank's robust network, comprising 400 branches, 265 sub-branches, 2,800 agent outlets, and over 3,000 ATM/CRM facilities. He praised the employees' dedication, stating, "Islami Bank's workforce is unmatched in honesty and competence, ensuring the bank's continued success." He also underscored the bank's efforts to develop the rural economy through its Rural Development Scheme, which spans 34,000 villages, with plans to extend it to 68,000 villages nationwide.
