North South University appoints new Vice Chancellor
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of North South University (NSU).
A professor at the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at NSU, he previously served as Dean of SBE twice and held various leadership roles, including Executive Director of External Relations, Director of the BBA Program, Syndicate Member, and Director of Career Services. Before joining NSU, he served as Vice Chancellor of Primeasia University and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University.
With 34 years of teaching and research experience, Professor Chowdhury has contributed to academic institutions in Bangladesh, Canada, the USA, and China. He has held faculty positions at the University of Windsor, Canada; Northeastern University, Boston, USA; University of Calgary, Canada; and the Islamic University, Bangladesh. Additionally, he served as a visiting professor at Yunnan Normal University, China.
Professor Chowdhury holds a PhD and an MS in Operations Research from Northeastern University, Boston, USA. He also earned a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University. In addition to his academic leadership, he teaches courses in Business Statistics, Operations Management, and Total Quality Management at various levels.
His research focuses on Business Statistics, Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Total Quality Management (TQM), Operations Management, and Social Business. Professor Chowdhury also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada. He has published over 65 papers, 2 books on Statistics, and presented more than 75 papers at international conferences.
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury recently joined as the Chairman and Director of Grameen Bank.
