NRB World Summit 2024 held in Dhaka

The World NRB Summit 2024 took place today in Dhaka, bringing together expatriate Bangladeshis from 25 countries to celebrate the vital contributions of Bangladesh's global diaspora.

The day-long event, focused on Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) 's role in developing their home country, was inaugurated by Lutfe Siddiqui, Chief Adviser's Special Envoy on International Affairs to the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

The summit, jointly organised by NRB World and Business Asia, was held in association with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), Australia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABCCI), Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CIS-BCCI), Global NRB Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Business America Magazine.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Md Shahiduzzaman, the President of NRB World, with speeches from key figures, including Aziz Ahmed, Chief Adviser of NRB World, Hemi Hossain, Secretary General of Global NRB Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M. Murad Yousuf MBA, President of Australia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Asef Bari, President of ABCC, Priti Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of NRB World Support Forum and Chairman of Universal Medical College and  Hospital Ltd., Sheikh Aleemuzzaman, Adviser to NRB World, and Iqbal Ahmed OBE, Chairman of UKBCCI.

In his speech, Lutfe Siddiqui highlighted the summit as a golden opportunity for Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bangladesh, emphasising the vital contributions of expatriates to the nation's development. "This is a golden opportunity for all of us to move beyond the painful chapters of our history, written by the sacrifices of our youth and the mass movements that have defined our struggles. The role of NRBs is crucial in building a new Bangladesh, and this is your chance to contribute to its future by playing your rightful part in the country's progress," Siddiqui stated.

Over 500 expatriates participated in the summit, including entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, and professionals from diverse fields. The event featured multiple seminars covering key topics such as education, health, economy, investment, banking, agriculture, tourism, housing, and the role of the Bangladeshi diaspora in national development. Experts from these sectors, including policymakers from Bangladesh and abroad, engaged in discussions as speakers and panellists, offering valuable insights for collaboration and growth.

The World NRB Summit 2024 marked a significant milestone in strengthening the bond between Bangladesh and its global diaspora, fostering further collaboration for its prosperity.
