Skill training boosts agricultural potential in Chuadanga
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), under the agricultural support scheme 'Bhoroshar Notun Janala', organised a comprehensive skill development training programme for agri-entrepreneurs at Hotel Shahid Palace, Shahid Abul Kashem Sarak, Sadar, Chuadanga.
This programme, held on November 26, 2024, welcomed 150 agricultural entrepreneurs from four upazilas of the district.
By the directives of the Bangladesh Bank, UCB has been organising such training in different districts of the country for promising agricultural entrepreneurs as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This is the fifty-fifth district in which UCB is conducting this training program under this project.
Syed Faridul Islam, Additional Managing Director, UCB, attended the training session as event chair. ; Rezaul Karim Siddique, Presenter of BTV's agriculture-based show 'Mati O Manush' and an agricultural analyst; Debasish Kumar Das, Additional Deputy Director, Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Chuadanga; Dr Shahabuddin, District Livestock Officer, Chuadanga; Deepak Kumar Pal, District Fisheries Officer, Chuadanga; and Md Touhiduzzaman, Manager of the UCB Chuadanga Branch, attended the event as a respected guest.
Syed Faridul Islam, Additional Managing Director, UCB, said, "Agriculture is a major economic driver for Bangladesh. Besides ensuring food security and employment, this sector contributes to the country's GDP. Hence, we are delighted to take up this initiative to upskill agri-entrepreneurs by educating them on modern farming methods and various funding options."
It is mentionable that UCB has already implemented several initiatives for farmers under its 'Bhoroshar Notun Janala' project. These include plantation of different varieties of trees, training for agri-entrepreneurs, distribution of agro-related smart devices such as the AI-driven 'Aro Maas (MoreFish)' device, promotion of maise farming as an alternative crop to tobacco, installation of lightning arresters to protect against lightning and distribution of food production machinery in different areas (free of cost) of the country.
