Students have to be responsible in preventing misuse of technology: DU Vice-Chancellor
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to play a responsible role in preventing misuse of technology and said that technological skills must be acquired.
However, everyone should be careful so that technology cannot harm humanity, said the vice-chancellor during his speech as the chief guest at the introduction meeting of the students of the 1st year honors class of various departments of the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmacy at the teacher-student center (TSC) auditorium on Thursday (10 November).
Director of Student Guidance and Counseling Office Professor Dr Mahjabeen Haque presided over the ceremony, University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Dr Abdul Bashir, Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr Md Abdus Samad, Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr Shima Zaman and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Professor Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar spoke as special guests, reads a press release.
Proctor Professor AKM Golam Rabbani, and Advisor of the Student-Teacher Center Prof Sikder Manoare Murshed along with the chairman of various departments and student advisors were present.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman appealed to the students to be committed to preserving the environment and keeping the university campus clean and said that they should develop themselves as contemporary and global citizens through proper utilisation of time.
