Tax, trade licence fees in Gaibandha can only be paid through Nagad
Residents of all unions in Gaibandha district can now digitally pay their holding tax and trade licence fees exclusively through Nagad, the Bangladesh Postal Department's digital financial service, which was formally inaugurated yesterday.
Through this system, citizens from 81 unions in Gaibandha can now use their unique ID to pay union holding tax and trade licence fees digitally.
To this end, a training workshop on the digital payment method was recently held at the Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner's (DC) conference room. The workshop was inaugurated by Gaibandha's DC, Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmed, and chaired by the Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government, Md Shariful Islam. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) A.K.M. Hedayetul Islam and other officials were also present.
Speakers at the event said citizens in these areas would now have access to fast and hassle-free digital services. This system will enhance customer service and simplify payment processes for holding tax and trade licence fees, thus ensuring transparency and accountability in Union Parishad operations.
Nagad officially launched the digital payment service for holding tax and trade licence fees alongside this workshop. Nagad's Head of Utility, Education, and Government Payments Mohammad Golam Mortuza attended the event on behalf of Nagad.
Nagad has been offering similar services in various parts of the country, and now the residents of Gaibandha can also step into the era of digital payments through Nagad. To avail of this service using Nagad, residents must open the Bill Pay option in the Nagad app and select the union parishad's name. In the next option, they will enter their unique ID to view details of current and outstanding taxes. Then, customers will input the tax amount, enter their Nagad account PIN, and receive a payment confirmation.
