UIU team wins Gold Award in the 5th Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh 2024
The team "Chain Reaction" from United International University (UIU) has secured the Gold Award at the 5th Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh 2024. The award ceremony was recently held online, marking a significant achievement for the university.
The competition kicked off on 7 June 2024, with over 200 teams from 120 universities participating in a rigorous preliminary round. Out of these, only 30 teams made it to the finals, held from 3 to 4 September 2024. The "Chain Reaction" team was crowned champion, earning the prestigious Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury Championship Award.
The winning team was led by Abu Saleh, a graduate of UIU, and included team members Ahmed Shabab Noor, Samrin Silviya, Enan Israq, and F Z Shaoni Shwastika. Their diverse expertise contributed to the team's success. Enan, a skilled public speaker and awardee of the Toastmasters International Speech contest, and Shaoni, who excels in business model creation, helped solidify the team's position.
As the national champions, Chain Reaction will represent Bangladesh at the International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in November 2024. This will be the second consecutive year that UIU participates in the international competition. In 2023, UIU's "Team Apocalypse" also won Gold at IBCOL, establishing the university's reputation in blockchain technology on the global stage.
The Bangladesh Blockchain Olympiad (BCOLBD) is an annual platform fostering innovation in blockchain technology. Organised in collaboration with the Bangladesh ICT Division, BASIS, Bangladesh Computer Council, IBCOL, Technohaven, FBCCI, and DU IBA, it is supported by an advisory committee of top professors and scientists from across Bangladesh.
