Deadline for online Vat registration extended
Business owners will be able to get their business identification numbers from any of the revenue board’s field-level offices across the country
The National Board of Revenue has extended the deadline for online Vat Registration till November 30.
Business owners will be able to get their business identification numbers from any of the revenue board's field-level offices across the country under the newly introduced Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act.
Confirming the matter, Syed Mushfiqur Rahman, director of VAT Online Project said, "The deadline for online VAT registration has been extended by one month in response to the demand of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries and business owners.
"Everyone will have to pay VAT online after November 30. Failing to register for the online VAT service will render any company unable to engage in import, export and opening letters of credit through banks."
The revenue board directed all businesses to register for the online VAT service in the 2019-20 Fiscal Year. A total of 190,000 companies have already registered online.
Around 7.75 lakh companies were registered with the previous VAT service.
