Economic growth to be highest in SE Asia if ADB target is met: Kamal
The government is going to set a growth target of 6.1% in the revised budget, though the original target was 8.2% for the current fiscal year budget
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said today that Bangladesh's economic growth will be highest in South East Asia if we meet the Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecast.
"Usually the ADB forecast is close to the growth we achieve. Our target was higher though, but our growth will still be highest in the South East Asia region if we meet the ADB forecast in this Covid situation," the minister said today.
The government is going to set a growth target of 6.1% in the revised budget, though the original target was 8.2% for the current fiscal year budget.
Earlier, an ADB report said Bangladesh's economy will have a 5.8% growth rate in fiscal year 2020-21 due to the resurgence of Covid-19 cases. However, it previously projected 6.8% growth for Bangladesh.
