The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and the National Productivity Organisation (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase productivity and improve skills in the industrial sector.
KM Ali Azam, secretary, Ministry of Industries, was present as the chief guest when the MoU was signed on Wednesday afternoon in the Ministry of Industries' conference room.
Priti Chakraborty, vice president of BCI and Nishchinta Kumer Podder, director of NPO, signed the MoU on behalf of BCI and NPO, respectively.
During the meeting, the BCI vice-president said that there was no substitute for increasing productivity in real economic development.
She further added that BCI has been working with the Ministry of Industries for a long time as the only chamber representing all types of industries in the country.
Signing this MoU will only help to accelerate their initiatives in creating and developing new entrepreneurs, micro and small industrial entrepreneurs, she added.
"We have to focus on skill development and increased productivity to survive amid the radical changes of the 4th industrial revolution, and through this MoU we will be able to reach the developed and prosperous Bangladesh of the Hon'ble Prime Ministers vision," said KM Ali Azam.
"I believe that this MoU between the BCI and the NPO will play an important role in increasing productivity in the industry," he further added.
BCI and NPO will organise various trainings, workshops, meetings, and seminars across the country to increase productivity and develop skills in the industrial sector.
