The finance ministry allotted the funds on Monday
The government of Bangladesh has allotted Tk116 crore to pay the March and April due salaries of jute mill workers under the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
The finance ministry allotted the funds on Monday with the earnest efforts of the Minister of Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi (Birpatik), reads a press release.
The fund, allotted as an operational loan, will be disbursed to the bank accounts of the BJMC workers.
A letter from the finance ministry, on April 26, reads that the funds should be repaid in the next 20 years – including a five-year grace period – at a rate of five percent interest. The installments should be paid every six-months.
The letter also reads that the fund should not be used for any other purposes than paying the due salaries of the BJMC workers.
All the standard government rules should be followed during disbursements of the funds. If any inconsistencies are found, the relevant official will have to bear the liabilities.
