Inflation rises to 5.63% in May

The country saw a slight rise in inflation in May, which the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) blames on price hike of non-food items during Eid in the first week of June.

Planning Ministry data shows inflation of non-food items increased from 5.64 percent in April to 5.84 percent in May.
Inflation of food items fell from 5.54 percent in April to 5.49 in May.
BBS officials said the latest inflation rise was caused by the price hike of non-food items during Eid.
