RMG workers condemn police action on protest
In a joint official statement released today by the workers associations, protesters declared that they won’t retreat even in the face of blatant oppression
The protesting workers of A-One (BD) Limited and Tazreen Fashion garments have denounced the "government inaction and police brutality" during their peaceful protest.
Earlier today, police dispersed protesting workers from the National Press Club area alleging that they did not take permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
A large number of police baton charged the workers while they were asleep at around 5 am on Monday, the protesters claimed.

In a joint official statement released today by the workers associations, protesters declared that they won't retreat even in the face of blatant oppression.
Workers of Tazreen Fashion garments have been protesting since the last 80 days over their three-point demand, while workers of A-One (BD) Limited have been staging a demo in demand of their arrears and Eid bonus for 11 months.
The workers further claimed that the state minister for Labour and Employment had promised to provide them aid from workers' welfare fund under the identification certificate issued by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). However, the government didn't take any steps to make sure BGMEA issues the certificates for Tazreen fire victims.
On the other hand, protesting workers of A-One (BD) Limited claimed that Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) and Dhaka Bank have created legal complications in the way of getting their long dues.
