CSE-50 index revised
Three companies have been added to the index, while three have been dropped from it
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has revised its CSE-50 index on the basis of the performance of the listed companies.
Following the revision, three companies were added to the index of the port city's bourse, while three were dropped from it.
The new companies in the index are Olympic Industries Ltd, Acme Laboratories Ltd and Bank Asia Ltd. Meanwhile, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Ltd, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Ltd and Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd have been excluded from the list.
The new index will be effective from 21 March, 2021. The stock exchange revises this index twice a year.
Twenty banks are in the final CSE-50 index: Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Bank Asia, Brac Bank, Dhaka Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Export Import Bank of Bangladesh, First Security Islami Bank, IFIC Bank, Islami Bank Bangladesh, Jamuna Bank, Mercantile Bank, National Bank, National Credit and Commerce Bank, City Bank, Premier Bank, One Bank, Southeast Bank, Standard Bank, United Commercial Bank, and Uttara Bank Limited.
Baraka Power Limited, Summit Power Limited, Shahjibazar Power Co Ltd, United Power Generation and Distribution Co, Khulna Power Company Ltd, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Jamuna Oil Company Ltd, Padma Oil Company Ltd, MJL Bangladesh Ltd are included in the fuel and power sector of the index.
Advanced Chemical Industries (ACI) Ltd, Acme Laboratories Ltd, Beacon Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and Orion Pharma Ltd were included in the pharmaceuticals sector.
In the engineering sector BBS Cables, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills (BSRM) Ltd, BSRM Steels, Ifad Autos Ltd, Singer Bangladesh Ltd, and GPH Ispat Ltd were included.
Further, Confidence Cement Ltd, and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh were included in the cement sector.
Olympic Industries and British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd, Grameenphone, BD Shipping Corporation, Beximco, and LankaBangla Finance were included in various sectors.
The CSE-50 index companies' market capitalisation is 54.86% of all stocks listed at the CSE as of 31 December, 2020.
It is 60.59% of the free-float market capitalisation and 47.69% of the average daily turnover of the stock exchange.
