DSEX gains 86 points amid high turnover
Turnover at the DSE was Tk505.9 crore, 48 percent up from previous session’s Tk340.9 crore
Stocks showed gains today since the turnover in the bourses surged. The investors also looked upbeat as the Bangladesh Bank issued a circular on providing support to the stock market.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange – DSEX – jumped 86 points, or 2 percent, to 4,472.
The DSES, the Shariah-based index, gained 14 points, or 1.4 percent, to 1,030, while the DS30, the blue-chip index, advanced 26 points, or 1.7 percent, to 1,517.
At the Chittagong Stock Exchange, Caspi – the benchmark index – showed a gain of 252 points, or 1.9 percent, to 13,633.
Turnover at the DSE was Tk505.9 crore today, 48 percent up from the previous session's Tk340.9 crore. Whereas, turnover at the port city bourse climbed 76 percent, from Tk17.3 crore to Tk30.3 crore.
Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Ltd continued to be the most traded stock with a turnover value of Tk31.5 crore, closing the day at Tk47.8 per share. The stock was followed by ADN Telecom Ltd with a turnover value of Tk13.7 crore, closing at Tk47.9 per share.
The Prime Bank 1st ICB AMCL Mutual Fund was the best performer in the gainers' table, advancing 10 percent, closing at Tk5.5 per share.
The Fareast Finance and Investment Ltd was the day's worst loser, shedding 6.5 percent and closing at Tk2.9 per share, said the DSE website.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 356 issues traded, 296 advanced, 40 fell, and 20 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
