Stocks edge up, turnover remains low
DSEX rose by 14.55 points or 0.28% to 5,161 till 11:30am, while turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor fell by 2%
Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed upward shifts during the first one-and-half-hour trading on Tuesday.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose by 14.55 points or 0.28% to 5,161 till 11:30am.
Moreover, DSE Shariah-based DSES index gained 4.75 points to 1,197 and blue-chip index DS30 increased 10.85 points to 1,824.
Turnover, a major indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor fell by 2% to Tk396.92 crore in the corresponding period.
Out of the 349 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 184 gainers against 77 losers, while prices of 88 scrips remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) climbed 27 points to 14,813.
Of the total 179 issues traded till then, 93 gained, 45 declined, and 41 issues remained unchanged with Tk13.7 crore in turnover.
