Stocks open higher amid surging turnover
DSE trading floor has jumped by 25 percent to Tk357.74 crore during the first session

Equity indices of the stock exchanges today witnessed an upward trend in the first one-and-half-hour trading session.
Turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor has jumped by 25 percent to Tk357.74 crore during the first session.
DSEX, prime index of the DSE, gained 40.99 points - 0.83 percent - to reach at 4,937 till 11:30am.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has climed 90.88 points to 14,072 in the corresponding period.
The Shariah-based DSES index rose by 6.51 points to 1,117 and the blue-chip index DS30 upturned 7.88 points to 1,707.
Out of the 346 issues traded during the same time frame at DSE, 209 company's share prices advanced, 77 declined, and 60 remained unchanged.
