New Market, Mouchak and Anarkoli markets not to reopen before Eid
The authorities of Dhaka's busiest New Market, Mouchak and Anarkoli markets have decided not to reopen their markets before Eid amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
New Market Shop Owners' Association President Dewan Aminul Islam has confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Friday night.
Helal Uddin, President of Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association, confirmed the matter about Mouchak and Anarkoli markets.

Earlier, the authorities of Bashundhara City Shopping Complex and Jamuna Future Park decided not to reopen their markets before Eid in a bid to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The death toll from the deadly virus now stands at 206 in Bangladesh and the number of total infections has risen to 13,134 as of Friday.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have issued a set of instructions to the authorities of shopping malls in the capital set to open on May 10, ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to DMP notice- markets can be kept open from 10am to 4pm, but temporary shops will not be allowed in public places or on sidewalks.
Shoppers will have to shop in malls within 2km of their residence. They will have to carry identity card or other credentials – passport, driving licence or utility bills – with them for verification of their residential areas.
All shopping malls will have to provide disinfectant to shoppers and deploy thermal scanners. Shopping centres and malls must have arrangements for hand washing and provide sanitiser during trading hours.
