Dear Alyne in Bangladesh
Alyne will make three videos on Bangladesh - the famous street foods, a visit to an RMG factory and how things can be improved in the factories of Bangladesh
Imagine yourself flying like a bird and exploring the world. At one time you might be in front of the Pyramids in Egypt, while at the other time in front of the Taj Mahal in India. If we could, all of us would want to live that life.
But for some people such dreams do come true. One young woman is flying around the world like a free bird, and doing her bit to make the world a little better.
She makes meaningful videos at every destination: sometimes she is talking about the taboo of the "beauty trap" while at other times she is trying to save the world by raising her voice on the impacts of climate change. She uses social media to share her message.
She is a globetrotter, and can show to survive on $100 in some countries across the world.
This is the story of Alyne Tamir, whom we all know as Dear Alyne – the famous video blogger, whose travel stories are trending on social media.
So far, she has already visited 84 countries across the world, and recently visited Bangladesh – to mark her 85th visit to a foreign land. Through her videos, Alyne has won millions of hearts in Bangladesh and around the world.
In her short trip to Bangladesh, Alyne has a lot on her calendar. On February 23, Alyne appeared at Chef's Table Courtside in Madani Avenue in the capital, to meet and greet thousands of her fans.
In addition, she will be attending the 4th National Youth Assembly to be organised by Jaago Foundation in Cox's Bazaar on Friday.
As a speaker, she will talk on the event to inspire the youth of Bangladesh in using social and digital media platforms.
Talking at an event in Gulshan on February 24, Alyne said she will make three videos on Bangladesh, which will include the famous street foods, a visit to an RMG factory and how things can be improved in the factories of Bangladesh.
She also said that in the videos she will also highlight Dhaka as a cost-effective city for travellers but how traffic congestion and impacts of climate change are major issues in the city.
Alyne is also the Chief Marketing Officer of Nas Daily, another vlog of popular social media celebrity and world traveller. Nas was however unable to visit Bangladesh because he is an Israeli citizen.
Although netizens know her as the girlfriend of Nas, she rose to fame as soon as she started making her own videos.
"It was not planned. While travelling together, I requested Nas to shoot some things I liked, and he asked me to make my own videos," she said.
She mentioned that the choice of name "Dear Alyne" came from the idea that she wanted to be a trusted social media friend for all.
She has 2.5 million followers on Facebook and 230,000 on Instagram.
To this huge audience, Alyne is the voice that advocates travelling and raises awareness about social taboos, including superstition on female beauty in China, Vietnam, Korea and many other countries.
She has made videos about how the fashion industry is exploiting women. Recently, Alyne rose to global fame when she spoke up in a live Albanian TV show where the host made sexist remarks on another woman.
Alyne strongly protested the comment and later made a video describing how any type of misogynist remark should be protested.
She has made videos highlighting the natural beauty and uniqueness of different countries, and protested harmful activities on environment and people. Alyne also stands by changemakers, trying their best to fix problems around the world.
Asked what inspired her to choose vlogging, Alyne mentioned her previous background as an employee in a video-making company.
While talking about her most cherished experience after visiting all these countries, she said, "My life is unique. I love everything - from seeing old ruins to meeting amazing people. There is not one experience that stands out."
Alyne was born in Israel in 1990 and later moved to the United States. She is also known for creating Girls Gone Global, a global Facebook community for women to share their ideas to make the world a better place for women.
In addition, being an animal lover, Alyne has also made plans to work with stray animals in future.
She also said that the young people who want to be an enthusiast like her must make sure that they are making their own decisions.
"Make sure first that no one is funding you. Be financially independent and do not let anyone manipulate you. Do whatever you dream of."
